West Central Electric offers several payment options for your electric bill.

PRE-PAID BILLING

Pay your bill when you have the money. You may deposit money into your electric account any time during the month, and as often as you wish. We will notify you by email when your account is getting low.*Minimum start-up payment is $25.

AUTO PAY

Bankdraft payments are withdrawn from your acount on your due date each month (or the next working day if your due date falls on a weekend). Credit cards are charged the same way. You will continue to receive a bill each month, however, it will state either "BANKDRAFT -- DO NOT PAY" or "CREDIT CARD -- DO NOT PAY."

ONLINE

Online payment options are available for members to pay by check, credit or debit card. Visit the homepage of this site and click on "online bill pay."

BY MAIL

Members are always welcome to mail in checks, credit or debit card payments using the billing slip at the bottom of the monthly bill.

IN PERSON

Payments may be made at either of WCE's two office locations -- in Higginsville at 7867 S. Highway 13 or in Oak Grove at 506 N. Broadway. Drop boxes are available at both locations. Members may also drop payments at First Central Bank, 1310 S. Maguire in Warrensburg. The bank lobby and drive-through are avaialble during normal working hours, and members may also use the bank's night depository located in the drive-through area. BILLING SLIPS MUST BE INCLUDED WITH PAYMENTS.

BY PHONE

Members may call payments in to the Higginsville and Oak Grove offices to pay by check, debit or credit card.

CYCLE BILLING

Cycle billing is coming June 1. New members may choose to set their due date as the 1st, 8th or 22nd of the month. Current members may choose one of the new due dates, or leave their due date as the 15th.

Billing

West Central Electric’s meters are read monthly by the cooperative. It is the responsibility of the member/owner to grant access to the meter location, and to arrange for the safety of WCE personnel while they are servicing the meter location. Failure to do so will result in an estimated billing for that month, and a disconnection of service after two months until satisfactory arrangements have been made between the member/owner and the cooperative.

West Central will install a dusk-to-dawn light for a monthly rental fee of $9.20. This charge includes the installation of the light on our existing meter or transformer pole. Maintenance and energy costs of the light are included in the rental fee.

What are Capital Credits?
As a member of West Central Electric Cooperative, this is your business. While other electric consumers are paying some huge corporation for their electricity, WCE members are basically paying themselves for their own electricity.

After operating expenses for the co-op are met each year, any funds (profits) that remain are assigned to the members in the form of capital credits. Capital credit allocations are your share of the amount paid for actual electric service, which is based on the cost of your electricity for the year.

Capital Credits are the cooperative's equity. They make it possible to secure loans and maintain facilities and services. When the equity level is high enough, the board of directors authorizes the disbursement of capital credits.

It is important that members keep WCE informed of their current address when they move so we will know where to send their capital credits check when their years come around. We do not issue checks to members when they move from our lines, as it is a violation of our bylaws. In the event of the death of a member or former member, the credits in that person's name may be refunded if the account was in the deceased person's name only.

As of December 31, 2011, West Central Electric
has repaid $19.6 million in capital credits to its members !
